A place to begin again
A safe, loving home for healing — and for the life that follows.
The Richard & Mila Taylor Hearthstone Foundation is building The Haven at Hearthstone: a home for male survivors of human trafficking to rest, heal, reconnect, and prepare for a future they can shape on their own terms.
The Richard and Mila Taylor Hearthstone Foundation exists because male survivors of human trafficking are still treated as an afterthought.
Cynthia Taylor-Hollandbeck, MA, MHC, Chairman, has studied this for more than eleven years. The public story is almost always female. The numbers are not. Males are trafficked for sex and for labor. After law enforcement rescues a young man, the question is the same every time: now where does he go? For females, the map is crowded. For males, it is nearly blank.
The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3). Our work is The Haven at Hearthstone — a secure, residential sanctuary designed as a home. Not a lockup. Not a program wing. A household. Many of these young men have no family to return to. The Haven is built to be that loving home while they stabilize, learn, and prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
Life there is ordinary on purpose: family-style meals, four seasons of outdoor activities, the unconditional love of animals, the healing power of music, and training in skilled trades. The aim is not to keep them. It is to help them heal and begin life anew, on their own terms.
Entry is not automatic. Cynthia interviews each young man referred after a rescue. If the need is beyond what a home can hold, or if violence is the risk, The Haven is not the right place — and that is said plainly, so the people who do live there can actually rest.
The Foundation is named in memory of Richard and Mila Taylor, the Chairman's parents. The work is named for the gap no one else filled.

Why we build
Every young man deserves a safe place to heal.
This film shares the ‘why’ behind The Richard & Mila Taylor Hearthstone Foundation — and the conviction that safety, love, and opportunity can help survivors reclaim their own future.
